%The_Company% recognises that environmental protection and sustainability is an important part of being in business. By participation and evaluation, %The_Company% will operate in an environmentally responsible manner, to sustain New Zealand’s environment and its resources.
The Management of %The_Company% is committed to the implementation and maintenance of the Environmental Management System set out in this manual.
The Environmental Management System covers all activities, services and products supplied by %The_Company%. This Policy is designed to act as a guide to staff and contractors on how they are to carry out their duties, with consideration for the environment.
%The_Company% requirements are to be followed, unless a specific dispensation has been issued by Management. Dispensations will only be issued in the interests of safety issues, emergencies or incidents; however, consideration will be given to the balance between productivity and the environmental goals of %The_Company%.
This Policy will endeavour to comply with New Zealand legislation and regulations, including (but not limited to) The Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA) and The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).
In doing so, %The_Company% will:
- Appoint a Director or Senior Manager who is responsible for Environmental Management.
- Continually improve on environmental performance.
- Promote pollution prevention by training and educating their Workers.
- Uphold environmental legislation and required standards, through communication, awareness and on-going training.
- Service and maintain their vehicles, so they meet the emission standards as set by the NZ Transport Agency and appropriate standards.
- Minimise waste and dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner.
- Manage all hazardous substances in a responsible way, to avoid and minimise environmental damage.
- Research and consider environmental issues and the other party’s views, when establishing new business or maintaining their existing professional network.
- Appoint an Environmental Representative, to oversee and guide activities in relation to the Policy.
