To ensure that this Environmental Policy is effectively implemented, %The_Company% will undertake annual reviews of its activities in relation to the environmental goals of %The_Company%.
These reviews will assess any impact on the Environment by %The_Company%, and management and training of Workers in the implementation of the Policy.
Top management (PCBU, Directors, Senior Management etc.) will review the organisation’s Environmental management system on an annual basis, or if there is an environmental event. This will be documented.
%The_Company% is to audit its Environmental Policy by:
- Consultation between Management, Worker-elected environmental representatives, and staff members involved in environmental management in the workplace.
- Conducting environmental workplace meetings, at least quarterly. These meetings will consist of management and elected staff representatives, to review progress and discuss new activities.
- Carrying out annual reviews of management performance against responsibilities and goals.
- Collecting the necessary information to allow management to evaluate the system thoroughly.
- Providing appropriate training for senior management and Workers involved in environmental management, sustainability, understanding and responsibility.
- Providing filtration systems, to remove any unwanted fumes and particles from the workplace and disposing of them in an environmentally friendly manner.
- Having an annual assessment of the Environmental System by management and environmental representatives; setting goals and measuring the impact the system has had on environmental change in %The_Company%, and any recommended improvements.
- The provision of resources to accomplish these goals.
Process to review a critical event or environmental issue:
- In the case of an ‘environmental incident’ including, but not limited to, a spill of an environmentally damaging substance or fire, the incident is to be contained and an environmental meeting held within 48 hours to ensure reporting of incident, review of findings and any changes to make to policy, processes or equipment.
- A full official review of the incident is essential, to establish if further training is required.
- All staff are to be made aware of the incident, and to any changes in training or processes.
- Process to access legal requirements relating to the environment
- %The_Company% will maintain/keep up-to-date on legal environmental requirements.
- They will hold subscriptions to regulatory bodies, industry groups, etc.
- All staff are to be made aware of changes to legal requirements which affect their role.
Waste Management Considerations:
- Compliance with the New Zealand Waste Strategy β this presents a vision for minimising waste and optimising waste management.
- %The_Company% will support and implement the Governmentβs Waste Policy; increasing focus on reducing and managing waste.
- For any waste disposal where relevant, %The_Company% will consider any Council plans, licensing, bylaws, Codes of Practice, Acts and the Waste Management Plan (WMP) as well as the above.
- Implementing a Waste Management Programme if the industry requires one.
